Smurfit Kappa Tannochside has recently introduced C&T Channel’s Corrugate matrix to its packaging production. The Scotland-based plant supplies customers across multiple industries – including Distilleries, Food Producers and Pharmaceuticals – with a large variety of corrugate packaging solutions and high quality post-print. Packaging for some of the world’s most expensive whiskies is produced at the plant. The introduction of a new creasing matrix to the production line requires careful consideration to ensure that neither speed nor quality of production is compromised. These are factors that Scott Burnett, Production Manager at Smurfit Kappa Tannochside took into account when selecting C&T’s Corrugate matrix, a creasing matrix designed specifically for corrugated board. Its extra wide body (20mm) reduces pressure and prevents cracking. It is available in Standard, Internal Chamfer and U Bend options. Burnett was impressed by both the product and the support he has received from C&T Matrix, “We run the Corrugate matrix on a very high speed bottling line and it’s performing very well; it runs very sweetly. And the support has been excellent. Howard [Mead, Technical Sales Manager UK and Europe for C&T Channel Matrix] is always there; every time I call he responds very, very quickly”. C&T’s Corrugate is proving a good investment for Smurfit Kappa Tannochside as in addition to being used in the production of boxes for whisky bottles, it is now being used in the production of food packaging, too. Howard Mead is pleased to be supplying Kappa Smurfit Tannochside, “Smurfit Kappa Tannochside produces some very high quality packaging and so it is good for us to know that our matrix is playing a part in supporting them in their success”. ![]()
